Dr Watts' research interests focus on the implementation of various proteomic methodologies for the profiling of tissue, cell and blood plasma proteins, with a view to determining changes that occur as a result of a specific physiological, biological or disease state. The lab is currently focused predominantly on breast cancer, but also prostate and bladder cancer, as well as diabetes, types 1 and 2. The overarching goal is the identification of novel markers for human disease, ultimately leading to the development of new or improved predictive and diagnostic tests.
