Jim Ladd

Jim Ladd is Senior Vice President for Finance & Operations at the Institute for Systems Biology.

Before joining the Institute in 2009, Jim had a distinguished 28-year career with Deloitte, an international accounting and consulting firm, during which he served as Managing Partner of the Seattle and Tokyo offices and of firmwide human resources at the head office in New York. 

After taking early retirement from Deloitte, Jim has served as President & CEO of EnCompass Globalization Inc. (a Japanese-owned software localization company in Kirkland), as Senior Vice President for Finance & Operations of Bsquare Corporation (a publicly-traded software engineering firm in Bellevue), and as Executive Vice President for Finance & Operations of City University of Seattle.

Jim is a Seattle-area native who has long been active in community organizations. He is currently board chair of Seattle Children’s Hospital and immediate past board chair at the Washington Society of CPAs. He has previously served on the boards of Duke University, United Way of King County, The Seattle Foundation, Seattle Children’s Home and several other not-for-profit organizations, often as the board chair or treasurer. He also is a member of the boards of Emeritus Corporation (a publicly-traded operator of senior living communities) and Sparling, Inc. (a privately-owned multi-state electrical engineering firm), both headquartered in Seattle.

Jim is a graduate of Duke University and is a CPA.
