| ISB HAS ONCE AGAIN MADE THE SCIENTIST LIST OF TOP PLACES FOR POSTDOCS TO WORK | ||||||||
|
Coming in 7th in the 2009 survey by The Scientist (2nd on the West Coast), ISB has broken the top 10 for
the first time. Areas of focus in the survey included quality of training and mentoring, career development opportunities, quality of
communication, networking opportunities, value of the postdoc experience, quality of facilities and infrastructure, funding, equity,
remuneration and compensation, benefits, and family and personal life.
Postdoctoral fellows (postdocs) are scientists who have received their PhD and begun their professional careers. They are the life blood of research institutes, conduct many of the day-to-day experiments and spend the most time "at the bench" in labs around the world. The Scientist is one of the leading industry magazines for life sciences professionals, including active researchers. It covers the latest developments in the life sciences, including research, technology and business. The Scientist also highlighted ISB's Accelerator Fellowship, which funds the participation of an ISB researcher at the Accelerator Corporation, an organization that invests in early stage biotech start-up companies. Fellows in the program become part of a team of people who research, select, launch and grow biotech companies. |
