Genotyping

The Genotyping facility provides access to multiplex SNP and microsatellite genotyping for researchers at the ISB, collaborators and affiliated companies in the surrounding community.

Services offered:

  1. SNP genotyping
      a. Individual DNA samples
      b.Pooled DNA samples.
  2. SNP validation
  3. Microsatellite genotyping
Equipment and procedures:

SNP genotyping is conducted with a MassArray System (Sequenom). This system consists of a liquid handler (Multimek), a MassARRAYTM nanodispenser and the MassARRAYTM analyzer (MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometer).

Microsatellite genotyping is conducted with four two-laser DNA Analyzer 4200 sequencing machines from LI-COR Inc.

The facility is also equipped with 4 Peltier Thermal Cycler (DNA Engine, Single Block), 3 DNA Engine Tetrad (DNA Engine, Four Blocks) from MJ Research, and a Robbins Scientific Work Station (Robbins Scientific).

Requests for services are done via email (). The data generated is also delivered by email.

Example(s) of projects that use the services of the facility:

Microsatellite genome scans of Hereditary Prostate cancer.
Identification of Hereditary prostate cancer susceptibility loci.
SNP genotyping of Toll like receptors and other innate immunity genes.
SNP mapping of Type I diabetes candidate regions.
