Research Interests
Dr. Ramsey's research is focused on the macrophage foam cell, which is a key cell type in the development and progression of atherosclerosis. Specifically, Dr. Ramsey is using a systems biology approach to investigate transcriptional regulatory mechanisms underlying macrophage foam cell formation. Dr. Ramsey and his collaborators are integrating transcriptional measurements from an in vitro foam cell model with measurements from murine atherosclerotic plaque, to better understand the transcriptional changes underlying atherogenesis and atherosclerosis progression.
