Research Associate 2 or 3 Job 08-012

The Aderem Lab is seeking several Research Associates. The position involves experimental research on the mechanisms by which the innate immune systems defends against pathogenic microorganisms. Specifically, the Research Associates will be participating in projects that explore the role of immunity in human infectious diseases.

Applicants must have a bachelor´s degree in immunology or a related field. Candidates should be comfortable with vivarium work, and working with infected tissues. Training in these techniques will be provided. Candidates should have several years of experience working in a laboratory setting. Familiarity with the following techniques is preferred:

  • Measuring mammalian gene expression (RNA extraction, qRT-PCR, Northern blots)
  • Measuring mammalian protein expression (Western blots)
  • Over-expression studies, including molecular cloning techniques and generation of stable mammalian cell lines.
  • Gene knockdown techniques (siRNA)
  • Tissue culture, including culture of primary mammalian cells
  • Cell biology techniques, including confocal microscopy and immunostaining
  • Flow cytometry
  • Experience in vivarium surgery procedures
  • Experience using Excel worksheets and data analysis
